Susan Catford was born in Middlesborough, Yorkshire, but grew up in Leicester and Derby. She came to Worcester to train as a teacher. Here, she met and married her husband. In her retirement, she began writing for the Pershore Times. This allowed her the opportunity to demonstrate and develop her own love of words and language through her writing. In her spare time, Susan liked to paint, draw, read, entertain, and was learning to speak Italian.
